Ask your MP to support RAIL FREIGHT EDM 719

Rail freight has a crucial role to play in the green economy so we ask you to lobby your MP to ask them to sign the EDM to show their support for rail freight enhancements and grant funding being retained in the Comprehensive Spending Review.

Julian Huppert MP for Cambridge tabled the following EDM
That this House recognises the importance of rail freight in the economy of the country, in reducing road congestion and in providing safe, low carbon transport choices for British businesses; and therefore calls on the Government to spend limited resources in the greenest way possible and support the development of rail freight through network upgrades on major routes, including to ports, through targeted grants to help reduce road congestion, pollution and exposure to road accidents and through a supportive planning regime for rail freight terminals that recognises their strategic importance.
